PASSATO PRESENTE cannot be defined simply
as a business, a book store or an antique
shop. It is, in fact, a place where you may
gain refuge from the banality of daily life
and unwind within another world; a place where
you can find what you have been looking for
or simply peruse the books and pieces of art
of yesterday and today.
This idea, unique to the city of L’Aquila
as well as its kind, is the initiative of
brothers Dario and Carlo Mangolini, whose
personal interests and aspirations have led
to this exciting new adventure.
In PASSATO PRESENTE you can find rare antique
books, precious as well as those of general
interest, a collection of pamphlets for the
bibliophile and humanistic or regional abruzzo
titles, new and used art prints, furniture,
ornaments, antiques of all kinds and new and/or
used collectable items.
Entering the shop in the Via Fortebraccio
27 in L’Aquila, you can immediately
forget the worries of daily life and immerse
yourself in an atmosphere filled with an array
of objects of quality and refined taste things
that are beautiful to see and to touch, that
offer relaxation and reflection; the aroma
of old paper, for example; scents which we
rarely allow ourselves to become aware of.
Accompanied by selected music, you can recline
snugly in a comfortable easy-chair, strengthened
by a good coffee, tea or liqeur, browse through
a book or contemplate the various objects,
tapestries and prints as long as you wish.
In PASSATO PRESENTE , you can leave the present
behind you for a short while and travel back
in time into a past you can taste and feel
with all of the senses of the body and soul.
Dario and Carlo, the founders of this distinctive
shop, not only want to do business and sell,
but also wish to enter into a dialogue with
their customers, in an unforced conversation
where ideas and experiences can be related
and cultural knowledge broadened.
PASSATO PRESENTE is not only a business and
shall never become just a business. We have
planned further initiatives: above all the
founding of an organisation for the advancement
of artistic and cultural activities, the planning
and organisation of diverse promotions and
presentations, art openings and exhibitions,
discussion rounds and musical performances.
The historical city center of L’Aquila
offers a worthy and ideal space for all of
these events. |
